John Copley's iconic Royal Opera production of Puccini's La bohème will have its farewell run in summer 2015 and will be celebrated with a special event on 23 May.
The longest-running production in The Royal Opera's repertory, the staging had its premiere in 1974, and since then has become a Covent Garden icon. Over 41 years, Julia Trevelyan Oman's detailed period sets have been home to a who's-who of half a century of opera - Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Kiri Te Kanawa, John Tomlinson, and Angela Gheorghiu have all trodden the boards of the bohemians’ garret. On 23 May, the leading roles of Mimì and Rodolfo will be sung by Anna Netrebko and Joseph Calleja.
The unique event will see the Paul Hamlyn Hall transformed into Café Momus for a very special dinner attended by the cast, members of the creative team and senior staff from the Royal Opera House. Tickets start at £1,250 and all proceeds go to the Royal Opera House Foundation.
Tickets for the event can be purchased by contacting Helena Price on on +44 (0)20 7212 9469 or via email.
